World Cup Qualifiers: Nigeria’s Coach Speaks On Coming Match Against Zambia
The Super Eagles Coach, Genort Rohn has stated that the Nigerian national team cannot afford to lose against Zambia in their forthcoming match to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.
Although, Nigeria tops the table with 10 points on Group B after dragging the Cameroon team to a 1-1 draw last Monday, the coach stated past performances haven’t guaranteed them an easy qualification.
He mentioned that Zambia, which is next to be played with, possesses strong players as Nigeria.
“We have a very good chance to qualify but we can’t relax because it’s not guaranteed yet.”
“We are happy with where we are but we’re yet to get the ticket, so we must continue to work hard.
“If we beat Zambia in October we will qualify, but Zambia are very strong.”
The Super Eagles, who dropped their first points of the qualifiers in the draw with Cameroon, had earlier defeated Zambia 2-1 away in the first group stage match.
But Rohr insists that “this (group B) is a very difficult group of very good teams. African champions Cameroon are already out, so we must respect every team.
“Zambia are quite strong. They have a young team like us and they improved at the FIFA U-20 World Cup this year.
Some of the best players in that U-20 squad are already with the senior team.”
