ODSEMA To Sustain Distribution of Relief Materials To Disaster Victims Till Year-End – Adelami

The Ondo State Emergency Management Agency (ODSEMA), has said it will sustain the distribution of relief materials to victims of flooding and other disasters across the state til the end of the year.

The Deputy Governor and Chairman of ODSEMA, Dr. Olayide Adelami, gave the assurance during the distribution of relief materials to disaster victims in Ileoluji /Okegbo Local Government Area of the state.

Dr. Adelami, who was represented by the Secretary of ODSEMA, Mr. Richard Aina, said the intervention was made possible by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who approved funds for the procurement of the relief materials.

He said the exercise, which began about two weeks ago, was aimed at supporting residents affected by flooding and other disasters across the state.

According to him, the distribution in Ileoluji/Okegbo was part of the state government’s efforts to identify with affected communities and provide assistance to cushion the effects of disasters.

The deputy governor urged the beneficiaries to appreciate the assistance, noting that although the relief materials might not be equivalent to the value of their losses, they would help ease their hardship.

He said the intervention demonstrated the government’s concern for the welfare of disaster victims, assuring them that the exercise would continue.

“This will not be the last. We will keep coming and continue to intervene, by the help of God,” he said.

The ODSEMA Chairman also called on residents to take collective responsibility for preventing and reducing the impact of flooding and other natural disasters.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Ileoluji/Okeigbo Local Government, Hon. Adeboye Adebare, commended Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for the prompt approval of relief materials for victims of the recent flooding in their local government.

Adebare expressed gratitude to the governor and the Deputy Governor for the intervention, which he said would help alleviate the suffering of residents affected by the disaster.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Omolewa Olawale thanked the state government for providing the relief materials, saying the gesture would help ease their suffering and reduce the hardship caused by the disaster.
