Ondo, Osun Govt Trade Words Over Attack On Bola Ilori In Akure

After the Deliberations at the All Progressive Congress (APC) zonal meeting in Akure for Ondo, Ekiti and Osun states had been abruptly closed due to the violent attacks by

members of the Ondo and Osun extractions. Leading to an assault on the Osun state Commissioner for Regional Integration, Bola Ilori by some suspected thugs at the summit.

Bola Ilori had made it clear to newsmen after his shirts and under wears were torn at the event that the secretary to the Ondo state government sent the attackers after him.

He said;

“After all the presentations had been done and I was on my way, suddenly, thugs sent by Mr Ifedayo Abegunde, the SSG just attacked me when I was granting a press interview.

“We came here in interest of the nation, after the party had called for public opinions on restructuring but what happened was unfortunate.”

Responding to the allegation, the Secretary to the State government, Hon Ifedayo Abegunde denied having hand in the assault against Ilori.

“I don’t know anything about the attack, i was seated on the high table inside the hall when I saw people surging in alongside Ilori. He started pointing accusing fingers at me.”

” If he said he was attacked in Ondo state, it was unfortunate. But if you pay attention to those he came with, you will realise that they came armed with sticks.. For what? In this kind of event? It means they came prepared to forment trouble”. He concluded
