OAU Gets New V.C
The Governing council of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife, Osun State, has confirmed the Appointment of Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede as the new Vice Chancellor of the institution.
The newly appointed V.C, until his appointment served in the Faculty of Dentistry, College of Health Sciences, in the citadel of learning.
Ogunbodede, a Professor of Preventive & Community Dentistry, who hails from Owo Local Government in Ondo State contested the seat of the V.C with 20 other Professors from different faculties in the University.
According to the election result made available to NIGERIAN CABLE NEWS by a member of the University Senate, Ogunbodede pulled 93 votes to defeat 20 of his colleagues, who also ran in the election. Professor Ayo Salami, of the department of Geography also came second with 76 votes, while Professor Aina, from the department of Sociology & Anthropology came Third with 55 votes.
The winner was pronounced & confirmed in a meeting of the governing council, held between the hours of 9:00am and 11:00am this morning. All arrangements for the inauguration of the new Vice Chancellor is expected to start immediately, in accordance with the University regulations.
