UPDATE: Pretending ‘Mad Man’ Confesses To Serial Kidnapping In Ondo

A serial kidnapper, identified as Adetoyinbo has been caught in Akure, the Ondo state capital city.

The man was arrested by local vigilantes when he was suspected to be a serial kidnapper and a ritual killer.

This was coming barely a week when a suspected lunatic was arrested for killing a monarch in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

Adetoyinbo usually disguises as a lunatic to perpetrate his heinous crime.

He was arrested by neighbourhood vigilance group at Orita-Obele Estate, near roadblock in Akure, with two handsets in his pocket.

The middle-age suspect, who claimed to have travelled from Edo State to Akure, confessed to have been in the business of kidnapping in the state for sometimes while pretending to be a mentally deranged person.

One of the witnesses, Mr Ganiyu Yusuf, told journalists that some charms and ritual substances were found in the man’s pocket.

Yusuf said the timely intervention of policemen rescued the suspect from being set ablaze by angry residents.

He said: “This guy was caught this morning (yesterday) around Orita-Obele Estate along roadblock, Akure, Ondo State.

“He was caught by some good Nigerians who have been on his trail for about two weeks after suspecting he is a kidnapper and only pretending to be a madman. He was caught with two phones.

“He confessed he was from Edo State and has been kidnapping in Akure for sometimes now but refused to mention his master’s name. The police intervened before the public set him blaze. He is presently at Okuta Elerinla Police Station.

“Please let us be vigilant, and God will continue to expose the evil doers.”

Confirming the arrest of the ‘lunatic,’ the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi Joseph, said the man was accused to have chewed and swallowed the SIM card of his phone when he was apprehended.

The PPRO noted that the man was still in the police custody for further investigation.
