How IPOB Is Same As Boko Haram But Not Same As Fulani Herdsmen – Presidency

The Presidency has cleared the air on the reason the Federal Government tagged Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB as a terrorist group like Boko Haram but failed to impose such sanction on the dreadful Fulani herdsmen wrecking havoc in the North.

Following the ban and proscription of activities on IPOB, the Government has been faulted for been unfair as IPOB’s activities were merely agitations and if ban will placed on the pro-Biafra separatist, such judgement ought to have been melted on Fulani herdsmen too.

But, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu on Channels TV today, maintained that the activities of IPOB are way too close to that of a ‘terrorist organization’ like Boko Haram but different from a ‘criminal gang’ like the herdsmen.

Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and
Publicity, Garba Shehu, was a guest on Channels TV this
morning where he spoke on the recent proscription of IPOB.
According to the presidential spokesperson, IPOB is an
organization that has no regard for the constitution.
Reacting to questions on why the Fulani herdsmen have not been tagged a terrorist organization despite the fact that they have killed hundreds of people and destroyed properties in some parts of the country, Garba replied that

“This is because there is a difference between a criminal gang and terrorist activities. Yes the Fulani herdsmen are a criminal gang and are being dealt with in accordance to the laws of the country but IPOB like Boko Haram has a territory they have carved onto themselves as a sovereign state and have shown
willingness to invade neighboring states. They have raised concerns in neighboring Kogi, Benue and also indicated interest in taking over Bayelsa and Rivers That is exactly what
Boko Haram has done with the Flags and taxation systems This certainly are not acceptable to the laws of the country”, the presidential spokesman said

Garba also revealed that information reached the government that IPOB
members had already started printing passports as well as their own currency which is against the laws of the country.
