IGP Idris Flouts Osinbajo’s Directive As Disbanded SARS Operatives Arrest Journalists

Premium Times Political Correspondent, Mr. Samuel Ogundipe has been arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) on the orders of Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.

News of the arrest of Mr. Ogundipe was released following the disbandment of the SARS unit by the acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday.

Ogundipe, who has been detained by the police at SARS headquarters in Abuja is under duress to disclose his source.

Ogundipe published the report of the investigation on the invasion of the National Assembly by the Police Inspector General which was submitted to the Acting President.

According to tweets released by Premium Times, the newspaper’s editor-in-chief, Musikilu Mojeed, and education correspondent, Azeezat Adedigba were also briefly detained and manhandled.

Ibrahim Idris has a record of flouting Presidential directives with his refusal to relocate to Benue upon the instructions of President Muhammadu Buhari.
