BREAKING: Why Obasanjo, Babangida Failed To Attend MKO Abiola’s Investiture
The two ex-heads of state and president of Nigeria, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida and Olusegun Obasanjo were absent at today’s Special National Honors for Late Moshood Abiola, Gani Fawehinmi and Ambassador Babagana Kingibe.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha tendered the duo’s unreserved apologies as Obasanjo revealed in his letter to be out of the country for a conference while Babangida mentioned that he had to attend to his medical health.
MKO Abiola was presumed to have won the 1993 Presidential election wicj was annulled by Babangida, who was the then Head of State.
Similarly, President Buhari and Obasanjo has been boiling the Nigerian politics in recent times in connection with the alleged wasted billions of naira on power project initiated during the latter’s regime in power.
While Late Abiola conferred the award of the Grand Commander of the Federal
Republic (GCFR) posthumously, his running mate, Babagana Kingibe, and the late human rights activist and senior lawyer, Gani Fawehinmi were awarded the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).
