Nobody Can Put Buhari Under Pressure To Work – Presidency
The Presidency has affirmed that President Muhammadu Buhari takes decision independent of any pressure from any cabinet members or any other person(s) outside his government.
The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, noted this while speaking on Channels TV yesterday.
Contrary to the opinion that Buhari was coerced to finally sack the long-time suspended Secretary of the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal and Director General of Nigeria’s
National Intelligence Agency ( NIA), Ago Oke, Adesina established that his principal took the decision at the time appropriate for him after thorough deliberations.
Lawal, who was indicted of corruption by the senate committee on the humanitarian crisis in the north-east, was relieved of his duty on Monday.
Adesina said those insinuating that Buhari acted as a result of pressure do not know the president.
“Anybody who knows this president will know that he’s a man that takes his time but when he makes up his mind, he makes it up real good,” he said during a Channels TV programme.
“Who can pressure the president? There’s nobody that can pressure him.”
He added that with the dismissal, Buhari has shown himself to be a “painstaking and a thorough person” who would ensure that the right thing is done at any given time and “who does not play to the gallery”.
Adesina said: “He got that report on August 23, it came in six volumes – yes, there was an executive summary but apart from that executive summary, with a fine-tooth comb, he went through the main report and today (Monday) we have got his conclusions about the report and the recommendations.
“It shows that the ‘mill of the gods’, like they say, may grind slowly but they grind finely.”
