The Lawmaker representing Ilaje ESE Odo federal constituency at the National assembly, hon kolade Akinjo has advised the ondo state government to minimise frivolous spending as displayed during its anniversary funfair and focus more on people oriented policies to reflect a progressive and egalitarian government.

Akinjo expressed displeasure over the level of marginalisation ilaje ese odo federal constituency has had to contend with over the years.

He further queried the underdevelopment and lack of tangible impact of the Akeredolu led government in the area even after three years of accruing tax payers money to state coffers.

In his words , “It is incumbent to mention that no single project was commissioned in Ilaje and particularly in my Federal constituency that is the oil producing belt of ondo state. All we see is comestic projects aimed at siphoning money while the people foray in abject poverty ….”

The lawmaker further tasked the state government to desist from making a mockery of itself by trivialising matters that truly affect the people and employing propagandist ideology by giving political colouration to matters of less importance in a bid to score cheap political points.

Akinjo said the recent threat to a section of the ruling party by the governor clearly gives credence to the popular belief that the APC does not have the interest of the people at heart , rather it is more entwined in settling political scores within its party at the expense of the people.

Akinjo said,” I implore the state government to pay more attention to the provision of inclusive and accessible infrastructure that transverses the whole state, such as potable water, affordable and quality health service delivery and education as well as level headedness in governance”

He also wants the APC led state government to make frantic efforts to put in place proactive measures against the outbreak of tropical diseases in the state.

He harped on the need for the ondo state government to embark on aggressive education and sensitisation of both locals and residents of the state on the deadly virus, its symptoms and preventive tips.

Akinjo opined that “such sensitization must be taken beyond scribbling a few lines in the name of press release, preventing the virus and educating the people needs must be taken to the length and breath of ondo state”

Honourable Akinjo said government is still struggling with the recent outbreak of lassa fever in the state that claimed lives in some parts and cannot afford to depend on its usual reactionary approach of dealing with such situations.

He further stated that a proactive government should immediately roll out necessary machinery especially to allay the people’s fears and increase awarenesses

He blamed the APC led federal government for failing in its responsibility of strenghtening the country”s port health service delivery at a time the world is experiencing such global health emergency.

Honourable Akinjo appealed to residents of the state to be conscious of their health status and maintain proper hygiene to reduce the incidence of diseases.

He advised them to avoid close contact with sick people, avoid touching their eyes, nose and mouth, cover their mouths when coughing or sneezing with a tissue and visit the nearest health facility when they feel unwell.
