Akinfolarin Charges FRSC on need to improve enforcement of Road Regulations

The House of Representatives committee on Federal Road Safety Service Commission (FRSC) has on Thursday charged the commission on the need to improve on the enforcement of road regulations across the country.

Two members of the committee, honourables Olayemi Adewale Taiwo (Ibarapa east/Ido Federal constituency) and Olufemi Julius Fakeye (Boluwaduro/Ifedayo/Ila Federal constituency) had moved the motions on “the need to dissuade officers of the FRSC from engaging motorists in hot chase on highways” and “the need for a review of the National Road Traffic regulations” at the green chamber.


The motions were consequently relayed to the FRSC committee.

The chairman of the committee, Rt. Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin, while addressing the committee meeting said it has become imperative to address the prevailing issues, in order to ensure the safety of the lives and properties of road users.

Akinfolarin also urged the FRSC to consolidate on their activities in Public enlightenment and Education on traffic rules, through mass production and distribution of the Nigeria Highway Codes.

He charged the commission to do more in engaging various stakeholders in the society and the enforcement of the regulations, particularly at night on the highways.


While responding to the honourable members, the Corps Marshal of FRSC, Dr. Boboye Olayemi Oyeyemi, who was represented by a team of Officers led by the deputy corps Marshal in charge of special duties and external relations, DCP Hyginus Z Fomsuk(fdc), identified lack of defense gadgets as one of the limiting factors of Officers during night duties.
