Osun Govt, APC React To Latest Guber Tribunal Verdict

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has kicked against the ruling of election tribunal in favor of Ademola Adeleke, the Peoples Democratic Party’s gubernatorial candidate in 2018 poll.

Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC had earlier declared the APC candidate, Gboyega Oyetola as the winner of the two-legged election.

But, the Tribunal today upturned the declaration on the premise that the second leg of the election was illegal.

Adeleke had clearly won in the first election on September 22 that was declared inconclusive.

In a quick reaction to the latest proceedings, the publicity secretary of the APC in Osun State, Kunle Oyatomi, said the decision cannot stand “superior legal scrutiny.”

“We are going to appeal the judgment by the grace of God and we are sure the judgment cannot stand,” he said.

“This is a temporary set back for us, we know, but we know this judgment will be overturned either by the Appeal Court or at the Supreme Court.

“There is no reason why anyone should fret at this point, we appeal to our supporters and members to be calm.”

Again, the Osun State government through the secretary, Wole Oyebamiji said it has filed an appeal again the judgment, urging the state residents to go about their businesses without fear.

Below is the Press statement Unedited :
