Ondo Reps Caucus Demand Review of Military Promotion Exercise over Marginalisation
The Ondo state Caucus at the House of representatives has frowned at the marginalisation of Qualified officers of Ondo extraction from promotion to Major General and equivalent by the Nigerian Armed forces.
The Army, Navy and Airforce had recently elevated officers to the rank of Major General and equivalent by the three arms of the armed forces.
In a statement issued by the Caucus’s Leader, Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin, members expressed shock that across the three services, no officer from Ondo State was promoted even when ten of them are sufficiently qualified for promotion to the 2 Star rank.
The statement reads in part:
“The caucus frowns at the neglect of Qualified officers of Ondo State extraction from promotion to Major General and equivalent by Nigerian Armed forces.”
“The caucus noted that the Army, Navy and Airforce recently elevated officers to the rank of Major General and equivalent by the three arms of the armed forces”
“The caucus was shocked that across the three services, no officer from Ondo State was promoted despite the fact that at least ten of them are sufficiently qualified in all ramifications for promotion to the 2 Star rank”
“The caucus consider this as another manifestation of the marginalization of Ondo state In appointments at the federal level and elevation to higher ranks by federal agencies”
“We urge the Service Chiefs to look at this deliberate marginalization of our state with a view to addressing it.” The honourables concluded.
