Ondo Assembly Justifies Postponement of Commissioner Nominees Screening

Ondo State House of Assembly has said it postponed till Monday, the screening of 18 commissioner nominees due to some urgent legislative demands.

The eighteen nominee’s who were at the assembly complex yesterday as earlier informed were immediately dismissed after a brief meeting with the committee on selection and screening.

The Speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun said the screening exercise was postponed to give room for other legislative duties, especially bills which needed to be urgently passed into law.

He clarified that the postponement was contrary to insinuations and reports that it was due to petitions against some of the nominees.

Oleyelogun restated the house’s readiness to always live up to expectations of the people.

Meanwhile the house has passed into law five bills in recently received from Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the Public Procurement and Fiscal Responsibility’ bills as well as a bill for the establishment of Ondo State Information Technology Agency.

Other bills passed into law include establishment of an Independent Office of the Auditor General, establishment of the Ondo State Development and Investment Promotion Agency.
