Ondo Lawmaker Empowers Constituents, Gives Out Buses, Tanker, Cash Gifts
The lawmaker representing Ondo East/West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Joseph Akinlaja, says he has initiated over 350 projects for the people of his constituents in the last seven years in office.

Akinlaja spoke at an Empowerment Programme held in Ondo for 150 constituents who had earlier undergone a two-week entrepreneurial training programme in different skills such as cosmetology, bee-keeping and beauty and make-up.

At the graduation programme for the beneficiaries of the two week entrepreneurial training,
Hon. Joseph Akinlaja who is the Chairman, House Committee on Petroleum Resources(Downstream), presented N3 million cash for the trainees as start up for their respective businesses.

The PDP lawmaker equally presented three 18-seater buses to the Ondo Development Committee, Council of Olojas in Ondo Kingdom and the Iyalojas and Iyalajes in Ondo kingdom.


Akinlaja also presented An 18, 000 litre capacity metered petroleum tanker to youths in the Kingdom with N2m interest free loan as a start-up capital.

akinlaja explained that the programme was borne out of his caring heart geared towards making the constituents self-reliant and employers of labour rather than being job seekers.

former governor, olusegun Mimiko who led dignitaries to the event commended the lawmaker for giving back to his people through meaningful skills acquisition programme and financial assistance.

Mimiko said he was excited about the entrepreneurial training and start-up capital for the graduates of skills acquisition, which he noted, was one among many other empowerment programmes for the people of the constituency.

the Osemawe of Ondo kingdom, Oba Dr. Victor Kiladejo, represented by the Lisa of Ondo kingdom, High Chief Simeon Oguntimehin described Hon. Akinlaja’s gesture as laudable, saying he has represented the constituents very well.
Earlier, Akinlaja commissioned a 3-kilometre road linking Ureje to Lomitoto and other communities in Ondo East Local Government, which he facilitated, as well as commissioned a water project with 3,000 capacity reservoir at Oke Sare, and three boreholes at Fasehun Orimolade community in Ondo west.



He also inspected the ongoing channelisation of over 3-kilometer river/canal at New Nigeria, Yaba Ondo through Mountain of Fire, to prevent frequent flooding which has sacked many residents of the areas.

The Coordinator, Landlords Association in the community, Prince Adenrele Adeyomolu, who said properties worth several millions of naira have been lost to the incessant flood in the area during the raining season appreciated the lawmaker for his timely intervention.
