ONDO 2020: Why Akeredolu will win without Unity Group – Lawmaker

By Aruwajoye Oluwaseun

A lawmaker representing Owo constituency II at the Ondo state house of Assembly, Hon. Adeyemi Olayemi has said Governor Rotimi Akeredolu will neutralize the efforts of a rival group within the APC, the Unity group as he seeks reelection for another four years.

Adeyemi, who also doubles as the chief whip of the house categorized the members of the unity group as losers who do not see anything good in the administration of Akeredolu. He said this while feeding questions from journalist in Akure on Wednesday.

In his words : “As at today, the Governor has over 80% chances and assurance to win the election. Unity forum did not start today. You can’t please everybody. The Governor has one commissioner in each local government and there are people who believe they have invested so much and at the end of the day you believe when they want to call the shot, you should be the one…these people are part of those who form the anti Aketi group. Go and check the list of those in unity forum, you will find those who contested the primary election with him(Akeredolu), those who went to another party during the election, those who are not satisfied.”

“You can’t see any individual who has natural belief that the only reason why I want to criticize this government is this rather than those who have lost out one way or the other.”

“Akeredolu will win without unity forum, believe me. The same thing that brought them (unity forum) together will still separate them because all of them have ulterior motives for going into the unity forum, they have no genuine interest. As at today, Akeredolu has no opposition.”

While responding to the rumour of a planned impeachment against the deputy Governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi by the house, Hon. Adeyemi strongly denied the news and tagged it as a wicked rumour planted by those who think they will benefit from the impeachment.

“There is no plan to impeach the deputy Governor, before God and man. It is the people who enjoy so much in disintegration within the system, some selfish individuals who believe if they remove Agboola Ajayi, they will benefit to be the deputy Governor that are peddling the rumour. As at today, there are no such arrangement in the state Assembly.”

Hon. Adeyemi extolled the efforts of the Governor in the state citing road constructions, health care system and prompt salary payment as their selling point and that he is ready to continue complementing the Governor’s effort through his empowerment program done every 100 days.

He said: “”I am the chairman, house committee on works. I have seen many road constructions done and the contractors are responsible for mobilization of 80% of those jobs done.”

“If he (Akeredolu) has not done well, I will be one of those people that will say he has not done well.”

“Every 100 days in my constituency, I do empowerment. I just did one three weeks ago for my 300 days in office and this is what is expected of other lawmakers.” He concluded.
