NGOs Partner Ondo Govt, Sensitize Public On HIV/AIDS, Others

Over two hundred Ondo residents were recently conveyed by a non-governmental organization, BEE Enterprise Limited alongside GOA Foundation to sensitize the public on how to prevent contacting the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and the best way to handle the virus, peradventure the disease is contacted by whatsoever means.

The medical outreach, which is a social investment initiative, was hosted in Ibulesoro Community, Ifedore Local Government Area of the state on December 19, 2018.

A representative of the Ondo State Agency for the Control of AIDS enlightened the people on why it’s essential to seek knowledge on HIV/AIDS so as to avert the tendency of being a victim.

Stressing the significance of early detection as the most appropriate remedy for the virus, the participants were encouraged to visit the hospital for regular verification of their HIV status.

Similarly, a number of ways the disease could be transmitted were discussed as the stigmatization of the HIV/AIDS patients by the society was totally kicked against.

Both Mrs. Akinye, the Chairman of the Ondo State Nurses Forum and Dr. Nimbe from Orange Dental Foundation shared insights into on how the good personal hygiene such as regular tooth-brushing, laundry, e.t.c can largely protect against accidental transmission of HIV especially parents and their children.

A host of medical practitioners tested both adults and children for HIV/AIDS and souvenirs were as well distributed.

The event was partnered by the Ondo State Ministry Of Health, Ondo State Agency for the Control of AIDS, Ondo State Nurses Forum, Nigeria Medical Association, FUTA Enactus,  Irobi Maternal Initiative and Orange Dental Foundation.

  • Yeah, it was a time of reorientation for both the kids and Parents in the community. This is the like of many other communities in Nigeria, a lot of them are ignorant of this deadly vices. Lot of lives will be saved if more of this is duplicated in societies across Nigeria.
