Missing Schoolgirls: Yobe Govt Apologises Over Misinformation [READ STATEMENT]
Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe state has apologised for deceiving Nigerians, especially concerned parents and guardians of the Government Girls Science Technical College, Dapchi.
over the wrong information given as regards the recovery of some students said to have been abducted by Boko Haram.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Yobe state Government had released a statement that 46 out of the 94 missing schoolgirls have been recovered but the story took a new turn as the parents paraded the school yesterday to see whether their children are part of the returned students.
The Governor admitted that the information relied on was unreliable and untrue, apologizing for such misdeed.
In a statement signed by the state’s Director-General of Press Affairs, Abdullahi Bego, the Governor also directed the officials of the ministry of education, school and security agencies to work together to establish the actual number of students unaccounted for and work with the parents as well as the community to foster information.
