Lecturers at the Olusegun Agagu University of Technology, Okitipupa (OAUSTECH) have suspended their fifteen (15) days old strike in the school, Nigerian Cable news online has gathered from reliable source among the lecturers.
It was also gathered that the school will start it’s second semester examination of Monday, 16th August, 2021.
Nigeriancablenewsonline.com had reported how the decision to go on strike was reached after the Union members met on Friday 30th July, 2021 at the TETFUND Building, School of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, OAUSTECH.
The demands of the Lecturers were listed to be the payment of all outstanding salaries to date, payment of all outstanding deductions to date and the release of Fifteen Million Naira (N15,000,000:00) as part payment of already approved Earned Academic Allowance (EAA)
However, the lecturers under the auspices of the Academic staff Union of Universities (ASUU) said the latest decision to suspend the strike was predicated on the memorandum of Action signed between their leadership and the University management.
While confirming the development to Nigerian Cable news online, the secretary of ASUU in the school, Dr. Rotimi Olorunsola said the National Executive Council(NEC) meeting of the union presently holding in the University of Ilorin, Kwara state has just given a ‘go ahead’ for the suspension of the strike, in expectation of the fulfilment of the terms and conditions in the memorandum of action between the workers and school management.
