AAUA Fee Hike: Trouble Looms As Students Prepare For Show-Dawn With Akeredolu

Akure, the Ondo state Capital may experience the unusual on Monday, as a negotiation meeting between student leaders and a team of the university management of AAUA, Over the more than 500% increment in school fee ended futile on Sunday.

The school had on Friday announced new school fee regime (Ranging between N120,000 & N200,000) for AAUA students through the school e-portal. This was however not totally unexpected, as governor Akeredolu had earlier hinted during his visit to the school few months ago.

nigeriancablenewsonline.com learnt that the students demanded in the meeting, that the University management should pronounce officially, that the resumption date is postponed indefinitely, and all school fee payment processes are put on hold, pending conclusion of their negotiation. This according to our sources was turned dawn by the Dr. Tunji Abayomi led team.

Our sources added that this was the beginning of the heated argument that ensued at the ‘over four hours’ long meeting.

Sources also added that the meeting ended deadlock, because the AAUA management remained rigid on the fee hike. While the students also resolved at resisting the new fee at all cost.

According to one of the student leaders who spoke on the basis anonymity, there will be a massive protest in the state capital tomorrow. While a similar but simultaneous action will be held by AAUA students resident in Lagos.

According to Another student leaders:

“All plans are concluded for tomorrow’s Protest, and we are ready for the worst on this”

He also hinted that ‘actions’ starts as early as 6:00am on Monday, details of which still not clear at the time of filing this report.

Feelers from the ordinary citizens in the state however indicate a total support for the aggrieved students on their agitations against the fee hike.
