Lagos Gov, Sanwo-Olu signs Anti-Open grazing Bill into Law

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state has signed the Bill prohibiting Open grazing in the state into Law.

The governor, who announced this development on his official verified Facebook page on Monday also ordered law enforcement agencies to begin it’s enforcement immediately.

He wrote:

“Today, I signed the Law to prohibit open cattle grazing and the trespass of cattle on land in Lagos state.”

“Eleven days after its passage by the State House of Assembly, I assented to the bill prohibiting Open Cattle Grazing and Trespass of Cattle on Land in Lagos State.”

“With this new law, it is now criminal in Lagos for cattle rearers to occupy unapproved public areas and private land with their livestock for grazing. The law also prohibits the act of moving cattle round public places by herders.”

“I have directed the security agencies to start immediate enforcement of the provisions of the law.” He added.
