Imo Assembly Impeaches Speaker

The Imo State House of Assembly has impeached it’s Speaker, Rt. Honourable Chiji Collins.

Collins, it was gathered was impeached on Friday over allegations of financial impropriety, high handedness, and gross misconduct during a plenary at the legislative chamber of the Assembly complex in Owerri, the state capital.

19 of the 27 honourables present reportedly supported the speaker’s impeachment.

Following his impeachment, the lawmakers elected Paul Emeziem from Onuimo Local Government Area as the new Speaker of the House.
