We Reject Masses Unfriendly Naira Change Policy Implementation – Ondo NNPP Candidate Speaks
The candidate of New Nigerian People’s party (NNPP) for Ondo state house of assembly in Akoko northeast Hon. Adewale Orogun has joined his voice to support the masses in view of the economic challenges and suffering the recent policy implementation of the central bank at introducing new naira note has caused.
Orogun, while addressing press men in Ikare, said the action of Central Bank of Nigeria Governor led by Godwin Emefiele should be condemned in serious terms.
According to him, it has brought untold hardship to members of his constituency and Nigerians at large, who are majorly artisans, who run small and medium scale businesses.
“Gen. Buhari could not have allowed such policy implementation while seeking another term in office. Any government not sensitive to the suffering of the masses should be booted out of the system.”
“The admittance of Emefiele to lack of enough new notes in circulation is tantamount to negligence of duty and incompetence backed by a callous president.” He said.
“In a ‘sane’ system Emefiele should have resigned or forced to do so due to the fact that there were glimpses of him running for the primaries into the office of the president under APC, an act that is in contravention of the new electoral act.”
“Small and medium scale businesses have crumbled and crippled while lives have equally been lost in scores. This level of suffering is unprecedented in our recent national history as I advice Nigerians to shine their eyes and take their angers to the ballot to elect credible, competent and masses friendly leaders to run the affairs of the nation in coming days.”
“However how good the policy would have been but for wrong timing, inadequate planning, short time frame and poor implementation.”
“I would advise Emefiele to obey the supreme court order filled via motion exparté through some state governors and stay off execution pending the substantial determination of a judgement.”
“There is no reasonable Nigerian against the policy if not for the poor implementation.”
“The swapping of the new and old notes should be done concurrently until the old notes fizzle out of the system for an extended period of time not less than a year just as the case of Bank of England and everywhere in the world. Why is it different somewhere in Africa? May God have mercy on us all.” He added.
