Ekiti 2018: Fayose Offers ‘Detention Allowance’ For Victims Of Political Police Arrest

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state is set to embark on what is unprecedented in the Nigeria history as he promised to pay any citizen detained illegally a sum of N50,000 naira.

As the Ekiti state 2018 election date draws near, the politics in the state is already getting heated up.

The former minister of mines and steel, who is also the governorship candidate of the All Progressive’s Congress, Kayode Fayemi has been alleged to have used the Department of State Security (DSS) and police as tools to victimize supposed antagonists of his political ambition.

As the state governor, Fayose stated anyone reported to have been wrongfully arrested would be paid ‘detention allowance’ of N50,000 for each day spent in custody.

‘Henceforth, anyone that is arrested illegally by Fayemi and his rampaging Policemen and DSS on this election issue will get N50k for each night spent in detention’, he wrote on Monday evening.

Professor Eleka, the PDP’s flagbearer is Fayose’s deputy and the preferred choice of the outgoing governor to succeed him after the July election.
