Easter: Ikubese Felicitates Christians, Urges Leaders To Emulate Christ

Former presidential aspirant and convener of the #YesWeFit revolutionary movement, Dr. Thomas-Wilson Ikubese has felicitated Christians in Nigeria and all over the world on the occasion of the Easter celebration.

Ikubese, in a statement released on Saturday, also urged political leaders at different levels to emulate the sacrificial life of Jesus Christ, in their approach to public governance.

Below is the statement unedited;

I felicitate with Christians all over the world on this auspicious occasion.

During his earthly voyage, Christ lived a modest and sacrificial life, laying down his life for the salvation of mankind.

This symbolizes the fact that leaders are to live a sacrificial life and be ready to fulfill the mandate of their offices, no matter the obstacles.

I appeal to our political leaders to be forthright and revolutionary in their thinking as to advance a positive course for society and not dance to the tune of a fraction whose minds have been corrupted by age-long mis-governance.

When Pilate asked the people whom they wanted him to release between Barnabas the notorious criminal and Jesus who had not committed any crime, the people echoed that he should release Barnabas!

As we celebrate the sacrificial death of Christ on the cross, Christians should endeavor to emulate the virtues of sacrifice, truth and uprightness that Jesus portrayed in his earthly sojourn.
