FG Declares Monday Public Holiday

The federal government of Nigeria has declared Monday, September 15th as a public holiday to celebrate the Eid-ul-mawlid, birthday of the holy prophet Mohammad.

The minister of interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made this declaration on behalf of the government, congratulated the Muslim ummah both at home and the diaspora on this occasion.

The minister, in a statement signed by the permanent secretary in the minister of interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani urged the Muslim ummah and Nigerians at large to imbibe the spirit of patience, resilience and sacrifice.

While congratulating Muslims on this occasion, the minister urged them to use the opportunity of this period to pray for enduring peace and a more properous egalitarian nation.
