Akure Violence: NURTW Accuses Akeredolu’s Aide of Fuelling Violence

Following the Bloody Violence that ensued in the Ifelodun (Benin Garage) Branch, of the NURTW in Akure, Ondo state on Wednesday,

the association has accused the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Akeredolu on Security matters, Alhaji Dojumu as the major cause of the mayhem.

The Chairman of Ifelodun branch (Benin garage) Pastor Agbebi Gbenga (Popularly known as Adehun), accused Alhaji Dojumu of having ‘vested interest ‘ in the affairs of the Union.

He alleged that Alhaja Dojumu had smuggled one Adekunle Kareem into the Union leadership structure from one of the branches in Owo local government, attempting to imposed him on the Present executives of the branch by force.

In a chat with Adehun and his other members of excos, it was revealed that the aide to the governor had earlier brought up a demand, of taking over the leadership of 10 out of the 29 branches of the drivers’ Union in Akure township, by removing their chairmen and replacing them with indigenes of Owo, the hometown of the governor, and get financial returns from them.

Speaking on the Wednesday violence, Adehun said, that he and his excos had only returned to their garage, after an unprovoked physical attack by Adekunle Kareem and his cohorts, during the celebration rally embarked on in celebration of the inauguration of their new state chairman, Mr. Adebo Jacob, also known as Idajo.

Adehun further said, that after Kareem and his gang had turn their Uniform attires during the attack, they came after him to the garage. This he said had motivated a defence from his people.

The fracas resulted in injuries on members of both groups.

Adehun concluded by saying he has reported the case to the Police, to avoid further clashes in the branch.
