Akure Agric College nears Varsity status as Akinyelure Presents Bill for Second Reading

The Senator representing Ondo Central in the Red Chamber, Ayo Akinyelure of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) has presented a Bill For An Act to Upgrade the Federal College Of Agriculture in Akure, the state capital city, to a University status, for Second Reading.

While canvassing support for the Bill on Thursday, the senator said it is needed to make comprehensive provision for due management and administration of the proposed University and other related matters.

Akinyelure, who doubles the Senate Committee Chairman on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, added that the Bill became imperative for the development of the institution, Ondo State and Nigeria at large.

He also said, that the institution, being the only Federal institution with Agricultural setting in Ondo state, will be an added value to the indigenes and residents of the State in particular, who are mostly farmers, when the Bill is passed into law.

It would be recalled that Akinyelure had made similar representation for Federal University of Technology, Akure, located in his Constituency of Ondo Central.
