Akoko Youths To Akeredolu: Please Save Our Land From Kidnappers

Youths from the Akoko Extractions of Ondo state, under the Auspices of Isowopo Youth Movement have expressed their dissatisfaction at the level of insecurity in Akoko Land, as a result of the activities of kidnappers.

In a statement made available to nigeriancablenews.com, the youths called on Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, pleading for his support in stopping the activities of kidnappers in Akoko land

It has become imperative to bring this security report to your notice as the security situation in Akoko land has gone from bad to worse with the way dreadful kidnappers have been operating without hindrance.

Mr Governor, series of kidnapping have been recorded out of which some victims were gruesomely murdered and many are still captives in the kidnappers den as at the time this press release is being made.

Your, Excellency, We cannot sit back and watch our people being kidnapped and murdered everyday as it is. Where it does not directly affect us, it indirectly does as travelers no longer feel safe on our routes anymore most especially on the Akunu/Auga road. People at home can no longer sleep and people abroad can no longer visit home without fear of being kidnapped or murdered.

Just this yesterday Your Excellency, Mr Olatubosun Olusi an indegene of Akunu-Akoko narrowly escaped with his children while coming from Abuja. He (Olatunbosun Olusi) recounted that a senior military officer has just been kidnapped before his own narrow escape. Couple of days before this, the wife of a monarch was kidnapped and there was another case of kidnapping of two brothers from Ise Akoko within same period.

Mr Governor sir, it is needless to remind you that protection of lives and properties is one of those germane duties of government to her citizens, as I know you have also made it a priority in your government sir. The current situation has become a great threat to the whole of Akoko Land, (Isowopo Axis of Akoko North East in particular) which is one quarter of the state’s landscape and agricultural backbone of our dear Sunshine state.

As things stand now, the acts of these devilish kidnappers have affected almost all aspects of lives in Akoko land as people cannot go to their respective duties posts without fear of becoming the next victim.

It is our strong plea that serious security measures should be discharged as fast as possible so at to have a safe land and one that would be conducive for our people to carry out their daily activities without fear or panic.

It has also been noticed that these miscreants called kidnappers always have smooth operations at area s where there are potholes or parts of the roads that has become slightly bushy. On this, It’s our appeal that government should prompt the Ondo State Alsphat Road Maintenance Company (OSARMCO) to urgently work on these terrible areas and the bushy parts should be graded. In addition to this, the police station in Akunu-Akoko should as a matter of urgency be upgraded and fortified since the community is a boundary community with Kogi State which makes it a hot spot as far as this menace is concerned.
