Akeredolu Was Only An Aspirant When We Started The Struggle For Ondo South Light Restoration _ Mike Omogbehim
Hon(Prince) Mike Adeniyi Omogbehin has reacted to an act of misrepresentation from an extraction of the media office of governor Rotimi Akeredolu, where the successful effort to push for the ongoing power restoration in Ondo south was credited to the governor.
According to a release from Omogbehin’s media office, the time-honored struggle starting when Akeredolu was still sliding to be Governor.
Bello is the press statement unedited:
The attention of the Hon(Prince) Mike Adeniyi Omogbehin Media Office has been drawn to an internet meme which tends to subtly attribute to the governor of Ondo State the successes recorded thus far in Omotosho Community on the ongoing power project through a premeditated memo signed by Bolu-Olu Esho, Information Unit Office, Governor’s Office.
While we are circumspective to avoiding undue argument with any mania, but we equally want to state that our principal, Hon Mike Adeniyi Omogbehin, Member Federal House of Representatives, whose modest life style detests any form of political competition that does not bear meaningful input to the life of the good people of Ondo State, has for the purpose of cleaner records and an undistorted history, wish to put events in right perspective. This cannot be negotiated in any guise.
On this premise, it would be recalled that on the 5th of January 2018 a news report filtered in which revealed to the public that Omotosho step-down project is set for commissioning. The report detailed the communications that existed between our principal, Hon Mike Adeniyi Omogbehin and His Excellency Babatunde Fashola, Minister of Power, Works and Housing (MPWH), whereas the later promised to do as requested by the former, hence the caption, “Finally, Fashola Fulfils Promise to Lawmaker”.
It is therefore important to take note of the following;
a) As a follow-up to Dr Olusegun Agagu laudable legacy, the advocacy on the need to step-down a fractional Mega-watts of electricity for the host community to the Omotosho Power Station was amplified on 20th of June 2016 vide a written communication from our principal, Hon (Prince) Negwo-Omogbehin to the Honourable Minister of Power, Works and Housing, HE Fashola;
b) That, a corresponding letter dated 26th July, 2016, attached herewith, signed by the Permanent Secretary MPWH, Louis O. N Edozien, delivered to our principal, which conveys a clear promised statement therein, to step-down electricity for Omotosho community as advocated by Hon (Prince) Negwo-Omogbehin. Please, it must be noted that, as at this propitious time of advocating for this step-down project, Akeredolu was still a gubernatorial aspirant in Ondo State, not even a candidate!
c) Thereafter, Hon Mike Omogbehin led the delegation of Obas in Okitipupa and Irele Local Governments, including former Ondo State Speaker, Rt Hon (Princess) Jumoke Akindele, who represents Okitipupa Constituency 2 to meet with HE Fashola on 7th of March, and, the subsequent visitation on 25th of March, 2017 which necessitated the promise by HE Fashola, who consequently payed a visit to Omotosho Power Station on 31st of March, 2017. Do take note as well, that as at this material time of visitations, Akeredolu was still hazily settling down for governance without cabinet.
So, for the umpteenth time, we hereby inform this lazy administration headed by Governor Akeredolu that it is impossibly impossible to attribute this achievement to the efforts of Ondo State Government. Also, for Engr Tunji Light to consider it a radical frenzy to score political points has further shown that Akeredolu administration lacks seriousness. Piloting the affairs of Ondo State with men that want to reap where none were never sowed, this attitude is synonymous to the one exhibited by their federal government counterpart claiming credit of Abuja-Kaduna railway project when it is glaring that the project is purely an initiative initiated and implemented by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
More so, before Akeredolu and his team would jump-in to take the credits; let it also be on record, that contractors are currently working on the power networks that linked Omotosho to Osooro with the aim of feeding the entire Okitipupa local government axis from the step-down substation in Omotosho. This project of significant developmental input was also initiated by Dr Olusegun Agagu but it’s now being re-launched by our principal, Hon (Prince) Mike Adeniyi Negwo-Omogbehin through the Rural Electricity Agency (REA).
However, we want to equally state that their desperation is understandable; for a year in office, Governor Akeredolu and his team have zeroed impact-ful project traceable to their administration. We cannot but advise our friends in government of Ondo State to buckle-up and stop searching for vain glory.
Finally, God will not forgive whoever will stall the formal commissioning of the power project because our principal has been inundated with a report from Engr Chidi, the project team coordinator, insinuating attempts to sabotage the commissioning of the project; the public is hereby enjoined to kindly take note.
