2019: ZLP Clears 62 Aspirants To Contest In Ondo

The Ondo state chapter of the Zenith Labour Party(ZLP) has screened not less than 62 aspirants for various political positions for the 2019 general elections.

The state party chairman, Wale Gbakinro who spoke during the screening exercise held at the party‘s secretariat in Akure expressed satisfaction with the pedigree and credentials of the aspirants.

Zenith Labour Party recently joined the list of political parties in Nigeria after its national leader and former governor of Ondo state, Olusegun Mimiko and many others pulled out of the Labour Party, citing hijack by some external forces.

The screening exercise is therefore to determine the eligibility of the 62 aspirants who have shown readiness to fly the party’s ticket in next year’s general elections in Ondo state.

Those screened include Senatorial , House of Representatives and Assembly aspirants.

The state chairman who supervised the exercise promised a level playing field for the aspirants during the primaries.

He said the party has commenced aggressive door to door mobilization of more members for a successful outing in next year’s general elections.

According to him, the party’s doors are open for defectors from the ruling and other opposition parties in the country.

The party’s publicity secretary, Love Olawunmi described the exercise as commendable and a pointer to a credible primaries in the days ahead.

The Assistant general secretary of the Party, Mr. Dave Akingbore also told Nigerian Cable News Online that more aspirants are expected to present themselves for screening of Friday.

Speaking after the Screening, Hon. Andrew Ogunsakin, one of the Aspirants expressed satisfaction with the process and noted that the party was poised for victory in 2019.

He urged people of the Constituency to offer him their supports, saying he is determined and ready to give quality representation with lasting legislative inputs.
