2019: Boroffice Boycotts Ondo APC Leaders Meeting As Party Adopts Indirect Primaries
The All Progressives Congress, APC in Ondo state has adopted indirect method of primaries for all elective posts in the 2019 election.
The party reached the resolution after a stakeholders meeting in akure attended by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, his Deputy , Agboola Ajayi, the State Chairman , Ade Adetimehin and members of the state executive committee.
Speaker Bamidele Oleyeyogun moved the motion for adoption of indirect primaries which was seconded by Stephen Olaleye, APC chairman in Owo
The resolution followed a stakeholders meeting held behind closed doors which was also attended by Senators Tayo Alasoadura, Yele Omogunwa and Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin.
The Party Chairman, Ade Adetimehin and Senator representing Ondo Central Senatorial District, Senator Tayo Alasoadura who briefed newsmen at the end of the meeting said the SEC members unanimously endorsed indirect primaries.
The party through it’s Publicity Secretary, Alex Kalejaye had in a statement it released yesterday stated that they were going to adopt indirect primaries.
“However, the State office opts for the delegates method of electing its candidates because it would create less problems for the State than the direct option.
“Ondo State Government is in dire need of all the money it could garner to boost its agricultural vision, educational programmes, and infrastructural development. It is therefore not convenient for the State to expend millions, if not billions of Naira, on security and logistics in implementing the direct primaries,” part of his statement read.
Conspicuously missing from the SEC meeting was Senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Prof Ajayi Boroffice who is in support of direct primaries.
