World Health Day: Ondo Guber Aspirant, Adelami rallies support for Nurses, Midwives over COVID-19

As the World celebrates the 2020 Health Day, a governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Olayide Adelami, Mni has appreciated the sacrifices and preparedness of health workers; Doctors, Nurses, Public Health Officers, Hospital Administrative staff in the state and Nigeria at this delicate time of COVID-19 pandemic.

He made the call in a statement commemorating the World Health Day 2020 with the theme “Support Nurses and Midwives”on Tuesday.

Adelami, a former Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly, who felicitated Nurses and Midwives in the state called for more support for them, as well as more equipment to make their work easier.

“As they work tirelessly to protect us, at the risk of their own lives, they need support and prayers.”

He envisaged the tireless sacrifices they will have to make at this critical time and expressed optimism that there will be no casualties among them while the pandemic lasts.

The governorship hopeful said the challenges of this period, which is posing overwhelming threats to health institutions and health workers across the world, calls for more hands and experiences and not disengagement of health workers.

Adelami added that “with the reality of the COVID-19 Pandemic, it is now clearer to all stakeholders, that a disability to one can indeed be a disability to all.”

“Societies that have been able to stem the spread of COVID-19 in their locality are those that their governments had planned appropriately for public health emergency which includes health workers adequate remuneration, top-notch health facilities, removal of financial barrier to quality healthcare, among others. ” He said
