WORKERS DAY: Fadahunsi Hosts Ondo Workers, Union Leaders, Interest Groups

Honourable Dayo Fadahunsi, a former special adviser to governor Olusegun Mimiko on Union Matters on Wednesday hosted Workers, Union Leaders, Interest Groups and artisans in Ondo state at his residence in the state Capital.

The meeting, Nigerian Cable News online gathered is an annual event fully sponsored by the host for the past twenty years.

Over 800 Interest groups, including the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) were there represented by their leaders.

Speaking with our correspondent at the event, former State Vice Chairman, Ondo state NURTW, MR. Olaniyi Ajayi said:

“Hon. Fadahunsi hasn’t just been good to the drivers’ union alone but every other union groups. He hates insincerity and very straight forward.”

“He is a competent hand when it comes to governance. He’s very conversant with all unions in the state being a former NLC chairman in Ondo state. It is noticeable through the way he managed the Union groups such that there was no rancour throughout the 8 years reign of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko. With another election on the way, we will love to enjoy his leadership skills.”

Also speaking, The TUC Women Leader, Ondo State Coucil, Comrade Ayesoro Olayemi said:

“It has been his (Hon. Fadahunsi) tradition to host workers every may 1st. The fact that he is not in government and still hosting it shows that he still has the interest of his people at heart.”

Speaking on the reason for the get together, Fadahunsi said:

“I started my career as a civil servant and retired only after 33 years. God gave me the opportunity to be the chairman of NUJ (Ondo state council) and at the same time, the chairman of NLC in Ondo state. So by the virtue of my career, I am very close to the workers and I see them as my family. That’s why I have been hosting them for over 20 years.

Asked if the meeting is an indication that he is warming up to contest the governorship seat in 2020, he said:

” I have not decided if I would contest or not; only God can decide. If God says it is time, then I have no choice but to contest. As you can see here today that over 800 interest groups are here, it shows that this is not the first time I’ve been hosting them and my decision was not politically motivated.”
