Why Democracy May Not Survive In Nigeria _ Senator Ben Bruce

Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has thrown a bombshell at Nigerian politics as he proclaims threats against democracy.

In the spate of perpetual killings by suspected herdsmen in the Northern part of Nigeria, Ben Bruce said the Nigerian government has failed because of the porous security within the country.

The Senator from Bayelsa raised his voice against these unwarranted bloodshed at Tuesday’s plenary session of the House of Senate.

In similar words to T.Y Danjuma’s allegation against Nigerian Army of aiding herdsmen attacks, Senator Bruce claimed that:

“There is a complete failure in leadership. Some bandits use weapons from the army, navy to attack civilians. I am worried about the security of our nation and our people.”

He expressed pessimism to the continued existence of democracy saying:

“the way we are conducting ourselves, it is guaranteed that democracy will not survive. Pay attention to Nigeria”.
