Why Adeleke Was Declared Winner Of Osun Guber Poll

The Osun state governorship election pet‎ition tribunal on Friday declared Ademola Adeleke, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as winner of the Osun state governorship election, Nigerian Cable News online reported.

At its sitting in Abuja on Friday, it held that the rerun election conducted in the state after the initial poll was illegal.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had announced Gboyega Oyetola as winner of the September 2018 election.

But the PDP and Adeleke filed a petition at the tribunal challenging Oyetola’s victory.

A three-man panel of the tribunal led by Ibrahim Sirajo, a judge, held that Oyetola was not validly returned as the winner of the election.
