UPDATE: Sporadic Gunshots In Akure As Police, Militants Clash During Protest
The ongoing protest of Niger Delta Militants at the Ondo state governors office, Alagbaka Akure has taken a violent dimension, as the police have continued to shoot sporadically in the last 30 minutes.

The Militants who identified themselves as ‘forest boys’ had locked down the governors’ office gate since the early hours of Monday, protesting the non payment of their amnesty entitlements, after they had submitted guns and ammunitions during the last amnesty program.

The protest however took a news turn few minutes ago, when the police started shooting sporadically.

Nigerian cable news however gathered from some anonymous source that the gunshots was to force the protesting Militant to open the governors office gate, so as the allow civil servant inside to exit for their homes since after the official closing hours.
Nigerian cable news online observed many people running for their lives, at the sound of the sporadic gunshots.
