UPDATE: Aggrieved nPDP Members Meet APC Leadership

The aggrieved new Peoples Democratic Party members who defected to All Progressive’s Congress at the heels of 2015 elections have finally scheduled to meet with the executives for their current party, APC today.

Earlier, the nPDP had sent a letter to the APC leadership, expressing their grievances as they were sidelined in the scheme of thingS as soon as the election periods were over in 2015.

They gave an ultimatum of seven days for the party to respond to their letter.

Speaking to reporters in Ilorin, Kwara state on Sunday, Alhaji Abubakar Baraje, the chairman of nPDP said the letter was not an ultimatum letter but was written to the party with the expectation of their response within seven days.

According to him, the executives of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and those of the new Peoples Democratic Party, nPDP have agreed to meet for dialogue today.

In his words: “Let me state clearly that the crisis of parallel congresses of the party across the states was foreseen.”

“Our letter, promptly and appropriately addressed, would have settled these problems before now. “In the letter, we never said we gave an ultimatum.”

He further disclosed that the letter was not just on the given an ultimatum, but was also a letter of advise to the leadership of the party, (APC). In his words,  “But we advised them.”

He added that the proposed date by APC to meet the leadership of nPDP was rejected, but nevertheless, a new date was fixed for the meeting, which is today.

Quoting Baraje, “The party has invited us, exactly on the seventh day of the letter. They wanted us to meet that same day, but because we were speaking for several leaders across the country, we told them we could not.”

“We have scheduled a meeting for tomorrow (today), from 2 p.m”, he said.
