THE CARRICATURE OF GOOD GOVERNANCE UNDER ONDO’S ACTING GOVERNOR By Ojo Bright I

Episode 3:

_THE NIGHTMARE IS FINALLY OVER AND THE GOOD GUYS WON_

NEVER OUTSHINE YOUR MASTER – Rule 1

Do you know that the only tree a monkey cannot climb is the banana tree.

Paradoxically, banana is what monkeys like the most. This implies that anytime banana is found in the hands of a monkey, it is most likely a gift from someone. The question is, why then can’t Monkeys climb banana tree, but can climb the tallest trees in the forest? Hence, the phrase “Who dash monkey banana?” was coined.

This little analogy is full of divine message to the right thinking human being and the good people of Ondo State. The take home must therefore align with the sacred fact, that in the journey of life, there are several things you like but will never be achieved unless you are given by God. Patience and dedication must be the ultimate goal and must be used for human development rather than self seeking glory. It should be embellished in loyalty to a just cause, rather than the acquisition of perishable wealth by all means possible.

The attempt of the then Acting Governor who is now facing a potential impeachment by the NO NONSENSE STATE ASSEMBLY. It should be noted that majority of those in this current house can neither be bought nor sold. They are honorable men who have hedged their names in success books before coming to the house. The youthful vibrancy of these honorable men cannot be compared to any other in the history of our State Assembly.

I heard the embattled Deputy Governor had started unleashing campaign of calumy through his protégé and surrogates against this noble men, with the intent to curtail them.

The allegations about the acquisition of a Bullet Proof SUV, from palliative resources among other demeaning acts is not only condemnable if the Deputy Governor has any modicum of shame but one that he would have honorable resigned and ask for mercy. At a time the people of Ondo State are battling with the global economic meltdown, inflation and rising cost of living, the only yearnings of “Mr. ACTING” was to perpetrate himself in power and engage in loot spree.

Therefore, I am constrained to recall my Sunday school teaching; “It is not of him that willeth or of him that runneth but of God that showeth mercy – _Romans 9 vs 16._

Lucky Ayedatiwa was giving an unmerited gift of leading the state, despite being picked as running mate under special circumstances. Unable to see the divine role in it, squandered it without looking back.

Mr. Governor being magnanimous to always take his Deputy as family may have being his major undoing. Yes, one would argue such is the harmonious relationship leaders must make, but the fear of Judas may worry leaders. Alas, the hope is that we are but pencils in the hands of the creator. The creator exposed, “afe ni loju, pelu ata lenu”. May we not be sympathized with by our oppressors and those plotting our downfall. Man is not God and only God giveth and can take life – no man can.

We saw in the case of Agboola Ajayi, the unyielding face of Mr. Governor to the red signs. Until, it materialize itself in such brutal manners that would have torn the centre apart. However, as usual Oluwarotimi- “Oba Olododo ro ti ipinle Ondo State, lo fi duroti gomina wa. Gege bi ikosi aye re”. Let it be known that no man can curse a man who God has not cursed. It is crystal clear that even when Saul erred, God, didn’t spear his life to be taken by David. The life of Aketi further attests to the biblical inclination, “Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm.

Practically, the Deputy Governor had forgotten the famous words of H.L Mencken, “For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong”. The solution to the seat of power looked too clear and created lust, pushing the quest to outshine his master. Failing to understand the sacrosanct principle of Never outshine your master. Now that the consequences abound, I heard he is jetting here and there with State funds to seek support against his removal, while his footsoldiers continue to blackmail the Governor. What a master strategist. Mr. Governor must now be weary, more than ever of Mr. Cunny man, because if cunny man die, na still cunny man go bury am. The leopard can never change its skin. The reinforcement against the Governor for a better time to strike can not stand, for the mark of God is upon him.

Alas, the nightmare is finally over, and the good guys won. The ultimate victory is in the hands of God. The giver of life. Let those who sought to be “HUMAN GOD”, deciding the fate of who lives or dies see God supreme in the affairs of men.

We must now think and write our own history as people of great ancestry. Odale – BETRAYAL has no place in our history. Eni ba dale a bale lo…
