The Federal Government has again invited the leadership of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU to a closed door meeting scheduled for Thursday, September 7.
The striking union had earlier failed to honor meeting with Federal Government delegation led by Dr. Chris Ngige, the minister of Labour and Employment, instead transmitting letter containing proposals to be ratified by the Government before coming to dialogue with FG again.
But, the FG has now called for another meeting to hold on Thursday, Premium Times confirmed this.
Speaking with a journalist on phone, the ASUU President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi confirmed this saying:
“We just received the notification of the meeting.”
He however didn’t give more details on what should be expected from the coming meeting with FG.
“Until Thursday, that is when we can say what would happen but we have been invited for the meeting”, Ogunyemi ended.
