RTEAN Headquarters and Her Executive Members Intact…

By Deji Adebayo, Abuja.

Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) wishes to inform the general public that some unscrupulous elements who are parading themselves as Members of National Executive Council (NEC) of our great association purported to have signed a communiqué from Lagos yesterday that the Executive president, Comrade Osakpamwan Eriyo and Secretary General, Comrade Ibrahim Yusuf Adeniyi have both been suspended.

This information is not true as both are in the office performing there respective duties. The general public should disregard the news as fake meant to mislead the general public. According to the Secretary General Comrade Ibrahim Yusuf in a news conference held in it National headquarter Abuja. RTEAN remain focus and will not be deter by mischievous elements who want to gain cheap popularity from members of the public over expiration of tenure of Lagos State Executives.

For the avoidance of doubt, the national headquarters of the association is in Abuja and currently running smoothly without any hitch and Lagos is never and was not our headquarters which make the purported NEC meeting in Lagos void. The genesis of this whole issues started on the 10th of September, 2019, when the former Lagos state Chairman Alhaji Musa Mohammed invited the National officers led by the President to come to Lagos state, to affirm him for a second term in office, but on getting to Lagos, we discovered that all information received earlier as regard signatures of exco for affirmation as stipulated in our constitution were not the true position of things, as some of his Exco members has written petitions against him.

We also met with lagos state government officials on the issues we have which they told us that all they need is peace. Having looked at the petition and expiration of their tenure since June 25th, 2019, and our constitution does not allow for vacuum in office, hence we dissolved the Lagos state exco which he was part of the meeting and put up a caretaker committee that will conduct election within 60 days. Bear in mind that, all members can contest including Alhaji Musa Mohammed, the president said.

Earlier the association has dissolved the Excos. of Lagos State led by Alhaji Musa Mohammed after the expiration of their tenure and this has generate a lots of controversy and brew an uproar within the chapter in Lagos State. The former chairman in a press release was reported to have said he and his executive members paid some amount of money to the national for tenure elongation but the president Comr. Eriyo debunk such rumor saying there was no such event and our constitution does not make room for tenure elongation.

Also, the man who addressed media in Lagos, Jalaaudeen have since been suspended from the Union for over seven months now due to different issues robbing the association name in the mud, the president added.

All effort by nigeriacablenewsonline.com to reach out to the former chairman, Alhaji Musa, prove abortive as he did not pick calls or respond to text message.
