REVEALED: Why Ondo Deputy Speaker, Deji Iroju Was Impeached
Following the impeachment of Rt. Hon. Ogundeji Irujo and the emergence of a new deputy Speaker in the Ondo State House of Assembly as earlier reported by nigeriancablenewsonline.com
More facts have been revealed about the impeachment and the reasons behind it.
The new Deputy Speaker is Mr Abimbola Fajolu from Ileoluji/Okeigbo state constituency.
Mr Fajolu replaced Mr Iroju Ogundeji who was impeached on the floor of the house during plenary following receipt of signatures of eighteen members of the house by the Speaker, Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun.
The reason for the impeachment according to Rt. Hon. Fatai Olootu, the immediate past deputy speaker, who moved the motion for impeachment was ‘Being At Loggerhead with the Speaker’.
However, following interactions with some honourables after the sitting, among whom were those who signed the impeachment notice, more findings surfaced.
The honourables, who pleaded anonymity disclosed to NIGERIAN CABLE NEWS that Mr. Iroju was impeached because of his lack of transparency in financial dealings on behalf of the house, financial misappropriation, high-handedness, Arrogance and Lack of respect for other members.
The new deputy speaker was immediately sworn in by the Clerk of the house, Mr Bode Adeyelu.
The house also use the medium to pass vote of confidence in the Speaker ,Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun.
The impeached deputy speaker, Mr. Iroju however staged a walkout of the plenary.
