Residents Arrest Kidnappers After failed Attempt to Abduct Infant In Ondo

The Police in Okeagbe Community of Akoko Northeast Local government in Ondo state have detained two men over a failed attempt to kidnap a baby on Monday.

It was gathered that the two young men were rounded up while trying to snatch a three-year-old baby from her mother into a waiting vehicle in Erusu Community.

According to an eyewitnesses, the mother of the child was struggling with the two men in an attempt to run away with the baby.

She reportedly cried out for help before nearby residents trooped out to assist the victim and the mother from the kidnappers.

The bandits were however beaten to stupor and stripped naked by the embittered crowd for what they described as a bad omen in the town.

It took the intervention of the monarch of the ancient town, Oba Sunday Mogaji, who pleaded with his people to save the suspects from being beaten to death.

Police from the Okeagbe Division were thereafter called to detain the two suspects.

It was equally gathered that the suspects are from the neighbouring towns of Oyin and Erusu but reside in Okeagbe Akoko.

Confirming the incident, Police area commander, ACP Razak Rauf said the case has been transferred to the state CID in Akure.
