Reserve Fayemi’s Seat For His Return After Losing, Fayose Tells Buhari

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has asked President Muhammadu Buhari not to withdraw the federal appointment occupied by Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

Fayemi made it known on Sunday evening that he will be resigning his federal appointment as the minister of solid minerals because he is vying to be next Ekiti governor, as the Nigerian 1999 constitution does not permit him to run while holding another public office.

Also, President Buhari congratulated Fayemi on his victory and emergence as the All Progressive Congress flag bearer for the July 14 state election. noting that his track record as a reformist with passion towards education, health and welfare will navigate him in good stead as he pushes his fresh ambition.

In response to this, Fayose said Buhari would merely be daydreaming if he ever believes Fayemi will emerge victorious in the coming election.

He however advised that Fayemi’s Federal Executive Council seat as a minister be reserved because the desperation to be Ekiti governor is a dead end.

“President Buhari congratulating Fayemi on his emergence as APC candidate is like day-dreaming. He will suffer another major defeat on July 14. Rather than congratulating him, the President should reserve his seat at the FEC because this desperation to be Ekiti gov is dead on arrival”, Fayose Said.
