Quit Notice: Police IG Orders Sunday Igboho’s Arrest

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the arrest of the Yoruba activist in Oyo State, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho for giving a quit notice to the Fulani community in Ibarapa land.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, was quoted as saying this during an interview with BBC Hausa.

According to the BBC report, Shehu said he had just got off the phone with the IGP who told him that an order had been given to the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Ngozi Onadeko, to arrest Igboho immediately and transfer him to Abuja.

Igboho had stormed Fulani settlement in Igangan to hand the Seriki Fulani in Oyo State a 7-day ultimatum to leave Ibarapa land with his people.

He accused the Fulani community of masterminding the kidnappings and killings in the area.

On Friday, Igboho despite a stern warning from Governor Seyi Makinde, stormed Igangan with his supporters to demand the exit of the Fulani community.

Violence reportedly broke out on Friday leading to the burning down of houses and cars in the settlement.
