ONDO2024: APC Young Leaders Network Charges Residents On Voters Registration
Ahead of the November 16th governorship election scheduled to hold in Ondo state, the All Progressives Congress Young Leaders Network (APC- YLN) has emphasized the importance of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Chairman of the Group, Hon. Barr. Fadeshola Ojamomi stated that the initiative is vital for every eligible citizen of Ondo State. “Your participation is not only a civic duty but also a significant contribution to the democratic process and the future of our state”, he said.
Speaking on the Significance of Voting exercise, the Chairman of the group stressed that voting is the cornerstone of every democracy. It allows citizens to have a say in how they are governed, who represents them, and the direction in which they want their community and country to move. For Ondo State, this means electing a leader like the current Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa who will prioritize our unique needs, from infrastructure and education to healthcare and economic development.
On why the Registration is crucial, one of the Leaders of the group, Hon. Jerry Akintomide said the exercise is very important as it guarantees the right to vote. “If you are not registered, you cannot vote. The CVR exercise is your opportunity to ensure you are eligible to participate in the upcoming elections. This includes new voters who have just reached voting age, as well as those who need to update their information or replace lost Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs)”, he said.
Another Leader of the Group, Hon. Prince Ileola Adegoroye was of the opinion that this current registration exercise will further guarantee Accurate representation. He opined that the more citizens who register and vote, the more accurately our leaders can understand and represent our needs. A high voter turnout signals a politically engaged population that demands accountability and effective governance.
Speaking in Akure earlier today at their meeting, Hon. Timothy Ayesuwa stressed that the CVR will Prevent Electoral Fraud. “A comprehensive and updated voter register will help in minimizing electoral fraud. It will further guarantee that only eligible voters can cast their votes, thereby preserving the integrity of the electoral process.
INEC has simplified the registration process to make it as accessible as possible, Hon. Olusegun Mulemora stated when speaking on the registration process. He said the process can be via online through the INEC website, where you will provide your details and schedule an appointment for biometric capture at an INEC center or In-person Registration, where people can visit any designated INEC registration center with a valid form of identification to complete the registration exercise.
While rounding up the meeting, Hon. Tope Adegboye stated that every eligible citizen of Ondo State has a responsibility to register and vote. He encouraged the youths and members of All Progressive Congress to spread the word by encouraging their family, friends, and neighbors to register. Awareness is key to ensuring high registration and turnout rates.
In his parting statement, the Chairman of APC -YLF, Barr. Fade’ Ojamomi stated that the Continuous Voter Registration exercise is more than a bureaucratic procedure; it is a call to action. It is a reminder that our voices matter and that we have the power to influence the course of our state’s future. I urge every eligible citizen of Ondo State to take this opportunity seriously. Register with INEC, collect your PVC, and make your voice heard in the upcoming elections by voting for APC flag bearer, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
