ONDO: Two More Children Die After Stepfather Set 5 Ablaze
Two more of the children set ablaze by their step-father, Ojo Joseph, have died at the hospital in Ondo state, Nigerian cable news has gathered.
One of the children had died on Saturday, before he was rushed to the hospital.
Nigeriancablenewsonline.com reported how Ojo, aged 54, set five of his step-children ablaze at Fagun crescent area of Ondo town.
Ojo alleged that his wife, who is the mother of the children offended him after a little misunderstanding.
He was said to have poured petrol into the room while the children were asleep and set their room on fire.
Spokesperson of the state police command, Funmi Odunlami confirmed this to our correspondent.
According to her, the two children died because of severe burns.
She added that everything is being done to save the two remaining children.
She said,”It is sad that two children have also died because of the severe burns.”.
She added that the man had been apprehended by the police for a case of alleged arson and murder.
She hinted further, that investigation would be carried out before charging the suspect to court.
