Ondo South 2019: Monarchs, League of Imams Endorse Akinsola For Senate
The Senate ambition of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) candidate for Ondo South Senatorial district, Eni Akinsola has continued to receive boost from different parts of the districts as traditional and religious leaders in Odigbo local government area, over the weekend, declared their support for him as their preferred candidate to represent the district at the Senate in 2019.

At separate meetings with the ZLP candidate, the Oloja of Oniparaga, Oloja Joseph Adetokunbo, Lisa of Araromi Obu, High Chief Tola Akintemi, and the League of Imams and Alfas in Odigbo local government area declared support for Akinsola in the February 2019 poll, saying he’s a credible candidate they believe can offer quality representation to the district.

Oloja Adetokunbo made his declaration during a visit by Akinsola and other ZLP candidates to his palace.
He said “with all the landmark achievements of former Governor Olusegun Mimiko while he was in office, only an ingrate will see candidates from his party and not support them”
“Mimiko’s achievements are enough to speak for ZLP candidates in the coming elections and we are sure he won’t support failure, he always puts the best forward,” he added.
Also, the league of Imams and Alfas in Odigbo local government area at a meeting with the ZLP candidate at Araromi-Obu on Saturday, assured Akinsola and other ZLP candidates of their readiness to mobilise the Muslim community in the local government and southern senatorial district to vote Akinsola in the February poll.
Speaking on behalf of other Imams at the meeting which had in attendance, Imams from all the communities in Odigbo local government, Chairman of the body and Co-Chairman of Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) Ondo State chapter, Chief Imam Habeeblahi Akinpelumi, described Akinsola as a thoroughbred gentleman who always championed the cause of the Muslims in the state while he served in the Mimiko government.
As the coordinator of Imams in Ondo South Senatorial District, Akinpelumi assured the ZLP candidate that he will not hesitate to mobilise his fellow Muslims to pay back Akinsola all his good deeds to the Muslims while he was Chief Press Secretary to Governor Mimiko, by voting him in next month election.
The Imams held special prayer session for Akinsola and other ZLP candidates on his team.
Meanwhile, a foremost political leader in Ondo state and the Lisa of Araromi Obu, High Chief Tola Akintemi, who also spoke during a visit by Akinsola and his team to his residence at the weekend, praised Akinsola for his excellent performance as Chief Press Secretary to former Ondo Governor and prayed for his success at the poll.
The elderstatesman said “The next election is about personality not about political party. So as for me and my household, we will be voting and supporting someone I truly know can deliver.”
While paying glowing tributes to the father of Eni Akinsola, who he described as his friend and a responsible, hardworking man, Akintemi described the ZLP candidate as his son from a good home with a credible character who will not disappoint the people of the southern senatorial district when elected.
On Akinsola’s team during the visits were ZLP House of Representatives candidate for Odigbo/Ile-Oluji Oke-OkeIgbo Federal Constituency, Hon Adepoju Busayo, and House of Assembly candidates for Odigbo constituency 1 and 2, Hon Dapo Ikudaisi, and Pastor Felix Olatunde, respectively.
