Ondo PDP Calls for Unity Ahead Of Elections

The Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo Central Senatorial District at it’s meeting during the last weekend has called on all stakeholders to remain united ahead of the forthcoming series of elections.

The State Vice Chairman, (Central), Mr. Dayo Awude, in his opening remarks, described the meeting as one of stock taking. He appreciated stakeholders for their steadfastness through the challenges of the outgoing year. He described the PDP as the party to beat, stressing that Nigerians are tired of the ruling APC already.

The State Chairman, Alhaji Fatai Adams, represented by his Deputy, Basorun Tola Alabere, thanked members of the zone for the great work done and the support given to the party at the State level.

The Senator representing the District, Ayo Akinyelure, reeled out some of the achievements of the Party in the Senatorial Zone since his assumption of office. He described the ruling APC as a party whose movements have retarded the growth of the country. He emphasized that the PDP did so well in the 2019 general elections because members were united in purpose and direction.

The flag bearer of the Party in the October, 2020, governorship election, Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, also spoke in the light of previous speakers. He underscored the importance of the 2023 and 2024 elections in the country and in the State respectively. He particularly commended the Chairmen for holding forth the torch of the party in their various Local Governments, particularly as it touched on the efforts at bringing back to the PDP fold members of other political parties. To celebrate this harvest of members into the party and for the good job done so far, he gave a gift of a cow to each of the six Local Governments.

A former Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko who was unavoidably absent, sent his goodwill message to the gathering, promising to do his best in supporting the party.

Stakeholders enlisted their continued support for the progress of the PDP as they made merry.
