Abiodun Tadese

The Chairman of the ward congress committee of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Gboyeka Isiaka says all grievances and complaints emanating from the just concluded ward Congress of the APC in Ondo State have been resolved.

Isiaka stated this while briefing newsmen at the party secretariat in Akure on Wednesday.

He explained that the party’s stakeholders in the state had opted for consensus mode of electing the new ward executives prior to the arrival of the committee in the state.

“On our arrival, we had a brief on what was on ground and to be done. It was during the brief we discovered that the state APC had opted for consensus mode across the 203 wards in the state.

“The state governor, Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, also said that the party stakeholders had opted for consensus and he supported us.”

He noted that the Congress which he personally monitored was generally peaceful and the turnout was very massive, although there are few skirmishes in some areas.

According to him, “to cover 203 wards, we cannot say that all of the places are 100 per cent satisfactory, we have few skirmishes in some few areas which had been resolved in the last 24hours. It’s less than five per cent of the entire 203 wards that we have, because it’s just one or two local council areas and like I said, they have been resolved.

The committee chairman added that the names of the ward executives which are 27 per ward have been put together to be submitted for onward processing by the national secretariat.

The chairman appreciated Gov. Akeredolu, all stakeholders, including the state Acting Chairman, Ade Adetimehin for their support, cooperation and assistance, adding that the committee was impressed by the conduct of party members during the ward congresses.
